Style Profile: Leah Turner

California cowgirl Leah Turner may have been born and raised by the rules of the rodeo, but it doesn’t pull her back from picking her favorite styles or makeup routines on the road. With her single, “Cowboy’s Love,” and more new music on the way, Turner keeps her lifestyle cool and country as much as possible.

We caught up with Turner to talk about her beauty and fashion faves! Check out her SLN Style Profile below.

On her beauty routine: Well, I hate washing my face, especially when I’m tired at night. Growing up in California, you’re always in the sun, so you get those dark spots on your face. I had some of those and they really showed up on me because my mother is Latin; I have light skin, but an undertone of dark. I started using Rodan + Fields the Reverse Regimen and I’m telling you, that stuff changed my face. I use that stuff morning and night and I don’t have any of those spots on my face anymore. Makeup-wise, I always use Make Up For Ever and also mix in with MAC makeup. They sponsored my whole tour when I was out on the Brad Paisley tour. A little concealer, a little foundation and some mascara. I love long eyelashes!

The three beauty products she swears by: I love Make Up For Ever’s Under Eye Cream. It takes away any type of little dark circles under your eye and it’s waterproof, so it doesn’t really move throughout the day. You don’t have to a lot of reapplying. Mascara, mascara, mascara! Always, always! I feel like you can never have enough mascara! I switch back and forth between a line called Benefit. Their line is called Real Lashes, and then also Voluminous by L’Oreal. That stuff is amazing as well. Then, lip liner and lip gloss always. You can always just put on some sunglasses and put your lips on. It looks like you’re made to conquer the day.

On her style icon and fashion inspirations: I really love what Ralph Lauren does. He always has really great monochromatic colors like if you’re in like an all blush pink, and then wear like a jacket as a statement piece. Haute Hippie does that really well, that whole rock and roll but still that country side of it with that print or a paisley type of fabric. Something always a little bit leather and lace. Always something a little bit hard, but something soft to off-set it. Ralph Lauren and Haute Hippie do a really great job doing that.

On her personal style: I think it’s a little rock and roll and a little country. Fringe with some cowboy boots and turquoise. I always wear turquoise. My dad’s from New Mexico and they always used to make Indian jewelry when they lived in New Mexico, so turquoise is always a staple piece that I love. I would say think of Stevie Nicks went country.

Her favorite piece in her closet: I have this one fur vest. You can wear it with jeans and heels and dress it up. You can throw it over a simple black dress. It can go with cowboy boots or a dress and throw it on with a t-shirt and jeans and look like you’re ready to go!

Most embarrassing fashion moment: I was on the red carpet of the ASCAPs.I was wearing a dress, so we tanned my legs and we forgot to tan the inner thigh. So it was like the front of my leg was tan and then you could see where we forgot to rub it in. That was a little like “Golly!”
