Dolly Parton breaks into the modern dance-music scene with her latest single, going full EDM for a tribute to heavenly romance, “Sent From Above.”

Released today (July 27) as a companion to her new Scent From Above fragrance, the track is a pulsating dance floor jam, with an angelic core that is pure Dolly.

Giving the classic-country legend a decidedly new-school makeover, “Sent From Above” features a timeless theme of true love, matched with a cutting-edge thump. The soul-mates anthem, written as if it were a prayer of gratitude, pairs Parton’s iconic vocal with layers of auto tune, synth beats and an epic swell of electronic sounds, all cascading over the listener in emotional waves. It would sound at home in any nightclub and showcases Parton’s artistic versatility … as she captures the essence of true love in just a few words.

“Sent from above / I know you must / Be heaven-sent / And I love you ever so much / Sent from above,” goes the bare bones chorus lyric.

With fans anticipating the new tune for weeks, “Sent From Above” is just the latest in a string of headlines from Dolly Parton. Accompanying the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s new song, her Scent From Above fragrance is available now — with Parton explaining that people are always struck by her combination of perfumes, so she figured she’d bottle it.
