Kacey Musgraves brought seasonal feels of yuletide and joy to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday (December 3), chatting with her festive host and performing a special holiday original as well.

First talking with DeGeneres about her Golden Hour album and why Musgraves thinks it was so well received, the pair then moved on to one of Musgraves favorite projects of 2019 — the time she and her sister stumbled upon Tom’s One Hour Photo in Los Angeles and turned it into a social media success story. After setting Tom up with an Instagram account his business picked up dramatically, and Musgraves is still singing his praises. “There’s nostalgic renaissance going on,” she said, “and I just feel like my generation would appreciate his business.”

Later on, Musgraves took the stage for a delicate performance of her bittersweet ode, “Christmas Makes Me Cry,” a track off her A Very Kacey Christmas album which will be included on Amazon’s upcoming The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show special. Surrounded by Christmas trees and backed by a string section, the Texas Grammy winner delivered the conflicted emotions of her track — capturing both gratitude for the moment and the pain of watching time fly by — in gorgeous style.

The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show starts streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime November 29, featuring Camila Cabello, Kendall Jenner, Musgraves’ own grandma and much more.
