Mo Pitney has announced that his highly-anticipated sophomore record, Ain’t Lookin’ Back, is set to drop on August 14.

Ain’t Lookin’ Back is a longtime coming for Pitney, after his debut record Behind This Guitar dropped four years ago. A critic’s favorite, the project spawned hits like the beloved “Country,” “Boy and a Girl Thing,” “Everywhere” and the fan-favorite “Clean Up on Aisle Five.” A more seasoned artist and songwriter now, Pitney made sure he recorded an album that he would be proud of.

“I wanted to be completely open-minded while recording this album. It was important for me to meld all my influences of the past that represent who I am as an artist today, hopefully to make one complete thought and to make something new,” said the 27-year-old, who’s known for his earnest and authentic neo-traditional songs. “The end goal was to shut out all other voices, close our eyes, and create something that came from the heart.”

Pitney’s upcoming album is produced by Grammy Award-winning songwriter and acclaimed producer Jim “Moose” Brown. To date, Brown has penned songs recorded by country hitmakers such as Jamey Johnson, Martina McBride, Josh Turner, Daryl Worley, Terry Clark and Alan Jackson—whose song “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” won him a Grammy Award for Best Country Song. If that’s any indication of the songs in Pitney’s upcoming album, country fans are in for a treat.

Ain’t Lookin’ Back will feature songs more than two dozen songwriters, including Bobby Tomberlin, Paul Overstreet, Tim Nichols, Matt Jenkins, Trevor Rosen, Matt Ramsey, Matt Alderman, Billy Montana, Randy Montana, Jimmy Yeary, Mark Nesler and Tom Douglas, amongst others. Pitney co-wrote seven of the 13 tracks.

Additionally, country star Jamey Johnson is enlisted as a feature on the heartfelt ballad and fan-favorite, “A Music Man.”

Over the last few months, the Curb Records artist has also previewed the album with several songs, which includes the title track, “Ain’t Bad for a Good Ol’ Boy and “Right Now With You.”

“I’m looking forward to taking this body of work that is completely me and sharing it with the world. I’m excited to see people’s reactions.”

In anticipation of the release, Pitney dropped the emotional “Mattress on the Floor,” a new track off the album, alongside its stirring and heart-wrenching music video. Watch it above.
