Thomas Rhett helped represent country at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 24), turning in a colorful performance of “Look What God Gave Her” early in the show.
Supported by a full band that included backup singers and a grand piano, Rhett delivered his high-energy performance in front of a collage of massive video screens — each one transitioning between neon-bright splashes of pink, blue, orange and more. The country star worked his way into every corner of the stage and out into a sea of fans on a catwalk, never missing a note of his grooving, Platinum certified No.1. All the while, the hit maker was aglow with infectious positivity, lighting up the night for good.
It was a big night for more than just Rhett, who was joined on the show by country stars like Dan + Shay, Carrie Underwood and Shania Twain. Dan + Shay and Underwood each took home two awards (with Underwood tying Reba McEntire as the most awarded country female in show history), while Twain closed the show in a surprising performance full of unexpected rap covers.
