Walker Hayes keeps the good times going with another crossover country anthem, dropping the beat on his new track, “U Gurl.”

Featuring more playful romance and a maxed out sense of attraction, the new tune follows Hayes’ 2021 breakout in grooving style.

Written by Hayes, with Dylan Guthro and Jodi Guthro (and produced by Dylan Guthro), “U Gurl” drops a mix of gritty blues-rock sonics and an edgy country-rap vocal flow — but Hayes’ signature good-guy lyrical style. He says the tune was once again inspired by his devotion wife, Laney, just like so many of his other songs.

“With ‘U Gurl’ we wanted to capture that feeling when you look at your significant other and you just can’t take your eyes off them, yet in a fresh way,” he explains. “I get that feeling every day when I look at my wife.”

“U girl / Cherry bottom boom girl / Every shade of blue jeans look mean with a body like that / Oh woo girl / Southern through and through girl / Do what you do girl / Guys like me like girls that look like u girl,” goes the sly hook.

The track has some big shoes to fill, as “U Gurl” follows Hayes’ breakout hit, “Fancy Like” — now in its 13th week on top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart (and still going). The dressed-down anthem is also in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songs, Top 5-and-climbing at country radio, and inside the Top 10 at pop radio. It’s also led to “Fancy Like” collaborations with Kesha and regional Mexican star, Carin Leon, and Walker Hayes recently closed out the 2021 CMT Artists of the Year special with the track.
