CMT’s annual celebration of the year’s best country music videos has officially been rescheduled. The CMT Music Awards, which typically takes place the day before CMA Fest officially kicks off, will be moved to Wednesday, October 14, the network announced in a statement Friday morning (4/3).
“The 2020 CMT Music Awards, originally slated for June 3, 2020, will move to Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Our top priority this last month has been rebuilding our hometown of Nashville following the tornado and ensuring the safety of our fans, employees, artists and partners during the COVID-19 crisis. As we look forward to celebrating country music’s biggest stars together with our community and viewers, we will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and local public health officials.”
The news of its rescheduling comes just days after the Country Music Association revealed that the 2020 CMA Fest would be cancelled. The CMA revealed that the festival would return to Music City June 10-13, 2021. The 2020 ACM Awards were also rescheduled from its original date of April 5 and will air on CBS in September.
