Blake Shelton Joins Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Lineup

Blake Shelton has been added to the 45th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, joining an already-sparkling lineup alongside fellow new additions, pop superstars The Jonas Brothers.

Hosted by actors Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5eva, Hamilton), the patriotic TV special will once again aim to be one of the nation’s largest fireworks displays, filling the sky above New York City.

“I’ve got my 4th of July plans covered!!!!! How ‘bout y’all?” Shelton wrote on social media to announce his involvement.

As previously reported, this year’s event will continue a tradition of awe-inspiring, musically-choreographed entertainment, now in its 45th year. Other musical stars will include Reba McEntire, the Black Pumas, Coldplay and OneRepublic, and a 25-minute fireworks display will launch more than 65,000 shells and effects from barges in the East River.

The explosive program will be accompanied by a musical score with the theme of “The Hero Within,” celebrating the American spirit that is now helping the nation emerge from a deadly pandemic. The fireworks themselves will be timed to match classic songs like “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful,” plus guest performances from The United States Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus, Tori Kelly and more.

“As America commemorates Independence Day, we are thrilled to join the celebration with a spectacular Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display honoring the heroic spirit of our nation,” said Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. “Live from New York City, five barges positioned on the East River will launch an epic celebration that will inspire a renewed sense of hope and optimism among our fellow New Yorkers and viewers nationwide.”

The 45th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will air Sunday, July 4 at 8/7c on NBC. Blake Shelton is currently promoting his latest single, “Minimum Wage,” and gearing up for his Friends & Heroes 2021 Tour.
