"The thought of a summer romance, to me, just feels very passionate and powerful, but it’s short-lived," said Pope.

Summer lovin’ is definitely in the air at the moment, but soon enough, some summer romances will just come to a tragic end. Whether it be distance or the colder months that pull people apart, it’s hard to keep the spark alive when the days of September roll in. Cassadee Pope felt the desire to put those passionate emotions into one of her songs and with her new single, “Summer,” she sings about the deep ties that come with a relationship such as that.

Pope channeled the feeling of a summer fling while in the process of writing this track and yet still remained rather hopeful about the whole concept. Although she understands it’s never easy to get over a love like that, it still always holds a special place in the hearts of those who go through the tolls of summer love.

“I definitely wanted it to be nostalgic and have it be a song about reminiscing on something. And, you know, the thought of a summer romance, to me, just feels very passionate and powerful, but it’s short-lived.  That’s what the song’s about.  It’s about how nothing bad really happened, it was just an amazing fling that had to end at some point,” said Pope.

Pope is enjoying her summer at the moment; she released her new EP with the same name as the single, which features three other songs that she co-wrote. She also has some tour dates lined up throughout the summer before heading back on the road with Chris Young for the fall.
