Chris Young Reveals His Favorite Christmas Albums
“The first Alan Jackson Christmas record. That record and The Beach Boys' Christmas Album — if I hear that, that means Christmas, as far as music goes," said Young.
Getting into the holiday spirit is always a jolly occasion, especially knowing that Christmas of 2016 will be filled with a slew of new country Christmas albums from your favorite artists. Chris Young is jumping on that sleigh (er, bandwagon) by releasing his own collection of holiday songs before the festivities begin.
His inspiration behind creating his own project of Christmas songs though wasn’t just from the excitement of the season, but actually some of the albums he used to listen to with his family during the festive days. Young shared some of the all-time classics that he had on repeat during Christmastime and that he still listens to today, even as he geared up to make one of his own.
“The first Alan Jackson Christmas record. That record and The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album — if I hear that, that means Christmas, as far as music goes. That was the two CDs or two tapes that were like, ‘Oh, it’s Christmastime,’ ’cause that’s what my mom would play in the car, everywhere. I know both of those CDs front to back,” he explained with a laugh. “And I know that sounds odd ’cause most people…I don’t think I’ve ever given an interview before where I’m like, you know, they go, ‘Who are one of your influences?’ and I go, ‘The Beach Boys!’ But those two records absolutely are.”
Other country artists releasing Christmas albums this year alongside Young include Kacey Musgraves, Rascal Flatts, Amy Grant, and Brett Eldredge.
As a huge fan of the holiday season himself, Young can’t wait for his Christmas song collection to come out for all to hear. The album, It Must Be Christmas, will be released on October 14. Fans can pre-order the record before Christmas Day comes by heading to Young’s website HERE.
