Chuck Wicks Feeling ‘More Confident’ With ‘Turning Point’ Album

Today, Chuck Wicks released Turning Point, his first full-length album in just over eight years.

In that time, the Delaware native has released several songs and an EP, but this is his first full body of work since 2008’s Starting Now.

“I’ve been really fortunate to experience a lot of things throughout that time that I’ve been, I think I’ve developed me into a more confident artist, a more confident writer. And when I say confident, I mean just someone that knows where they’re going,” Wicks told Sounds Like Nashville. “When I made my first record with RCA, I didn’t know where I was going. I was just happy to be making a record. But I was so scared, I was so green, I had no idea what I was doing. I was just trying to fit in and now I’m trying to stand out.”

Turning Point features Wicks’ latest single, “She’s Gone,” as well as a number of other songs he’s glad to have as part of the record.

“Timing is huge in anything you do and sometimes you have to go through things. You have to go through struggle,” he added. “You have to go through love. You have to go through breakups. If I would’ve released ‘Turning Point’ a few years back, but I don’t think the timing would’ve been right because I wouldn’t have had the songs that are on this record.”

Most of all, Wicks is proud to still be able to make music and relate to people. “I love making music. I love touring. I love going to do a show and hearing people say, ‘Oh my gosh, I love this song. It helped me through this’ or ‘It got me to do this’ or ‘It gave me the strength and hope’ and that’s the power of music, right? So I love being a part of that in any facet.”
