Just a week after announcing the 2022 CMT Music Awards would be moving to network TV and airing on CBS, organizers have now set a date for the fan-voted show. The newly revamped night of music and awards will air on April 3, live as always from Nashville.

The date arrives after a significant bump in popularity for the CMT Awards, after the 2021 ceremony saw a 10-percent increase in total viewers. That success prompted CMT’s parent company, ViacomCBS, to move the event over to CBS next year, potentially boosting its reach even farther.

Meanwhile, CMT will still be a major part of its flagship awards show. The week leading up to the April 3 event will now be known “Country Music Week” on the network, with special programming and events capped by exclusive director’s cut airings of the CMT Music Awards, set to broadcast after the live show on CMT and various ViacomCBS platforms.

Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini co-hosted the 2021 CMT Music Awards, which saw thrilling performances from Ballerini and LANY’s Paul Klein on their new duet, “I Quit Drinkin’,” Chris Stapleton and H.E.R. for “Hold On,” Luke Bryan with “Down to One,” and much more. Big winners on the night included Carrie Underwood and John Legend (Video of the Year for “Hallelujah”), Gabby Barrett (Female Video of the Year for “The Good Ones”), and more.
