Just days after releasing his first single in three years, “Closer To You,” Hunter Hayes is plotting a brand new headlining tour. Kicking off on April 18 in Atlanta, GA, the tour will hit 20 cities across the United States, including stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more.

“I’m very excited to finally announce our Closer To You spring tour,” said the crooner in a teaser video for the tour. “New show, new music, a lot of new things. I can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.”

Fans have already gotten a taste of what to expect from Hayes with the new song “Closer To You.” Called an uplifting breakup song, Hayes sings of remaining the eternal optimist even through the hardest of heartaches.

“I wanted this song to turn that feeling around for people and remind them not to let someone walk out the door with your happiness and your self-worth. I kind of want this song to be somebody’s disco ball on a depressing night rather than a box of tissues and a Hugh Grant movie,” he said of the track. “It’s a song about freedom. It’s a song about true honest happiness and love and how there is love for everyone. Not only are you worthy of being loved but there is somebody out there who loves you even though they haven’t met you. In the darkness of a heart breaking, I’m here to tell you there’s also a whole lotta light.”

Tickets for Hunter Hayes’ Closer To You Tour will go on sale Friday, Feb. 15. Members of his mailing list will have access beginning February 12.
