Since deciding to follow her dreams to Nashville, Courtney Cole has been making a name for herself in the tight-knit community that is Music City. The up-and-comer is bubbling up at exactly the right time, as country music falls back to the days of Faith Hill and Shania Twain, where the ladies were a prominent fixture in the format.

“It feels really good to just be a part of this movement,” Cole told Sounds Like Nashville. “I feel like, for some reason, females went away for a little while and it’s become such an ordeal and now, it’s like the 90s all over again where ladies are coming back.”

The Louisiana native got a taste of the female resurgence when she spent much of last year touring as an opener on Miranda Lambert’s all-female Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour. She’s now part of a new wave of country ladies taking over the radio waves and country fans’ hearts.

“We have all these incredible women, like Kelsea Ballerini, Cam and Maren Morris and all these women that are coming and making a statement,” added Cole. “I just feel lucky to be a part of this history of bringing women back in country music. I’m just enjoying the journey. It’s like a dream come true, all of this.”

See what else Cole had to say about the revival of country women and how she got her start as a songwriter in the video above.
