Kelleigh Bannen Makes National Television Debut on ‘TODAY’

Kelleigh Bannen was up in the early morning hours on Tuesday (10/29) to make her national television debut on TODAY. The songstress took the early morning show stage to perform a song from her critically-acclaimed debut album, Favorite Colors.

In speaking with TODAY hosts Hoda Kotb and Willie Geist, Bannen reflected on her years long journey in music that lead her to her many firsts this year. “I guess I’ve just been thinking a lot about how our stories don’t unfold the way we think they are going to, or on the timeline. Sometimes, that just makes you that much more thankful for the opportunity.”

After speaking with the hosts, Bannen took the stage to perform the transportive “Time Machine,” a song she co-wrote with Mark Trussell.

“The lyric is really, really important to me; and I think that, obviously, there’s such a tradition of that in Country music,” she recently shared with Sounds Like Nashville of her songwriting process. “Words really matter to me. I’ve been really hurt by words. I’ve been really encouraged by the right words; and I have my own kind of set of guidelines as far as what I think is cool and interesting and powerful and smart.”

Favorite Colors is the debut album from Bannen, who co-wrote each of the 14 colorful tracks. The record earned her praise, with SLN dubbing her as one of “Nashville’s best songwriters.”
