Loretta Lynn ‘In Good Spirits’ After Falling and Breaking Her Hip

Loretta Lynn is resting comfortably after falling and breaking her hip, her sister, Crystal Gayle, has revealed.

In a tweet posted Monday morning (Jan. 8), a day ahead of Gayle’s birthday, the “Don’t Make My Brown Eyes Blue” singer asked for “love and prayers” as Loretta recovers.

“My birthday wish is for everyone to send love and prayers to my sister, Loretta Lynn, who fell and broke her hip last week,” she shared.

While Gayle didn’t reveal any specific details regarding the 85-year-old’s fall, she said that Lynn is “in good spirits and is doing as well as can be expected with this type of injury.”

Lynn has spent much of the past year out of the spotlight after suffering from a stroke in May of 2017. During her recovery, she cancelled her tour and the release of her new album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, to concentrate on her rehabilitation.

“I am getting stronger every day and can’t wait to get back out there with all of you. I’m just letting everybody know that Willie ain’t dead yet and neither am I, and I can’t wait to see all of you on the road,” she told fans at the time.

She concluded her year with a surprise appearance at Alan Jackson’s Country Music Hall of Fame induction in October. The moment marked her second public appearance after the stroke. She previously performed on her ranch as part of the Tennessee Motorcycle and Music Revival.
