Maddie & Tae Singer Tae Dye Welcomes Baby Girl Weeks Early
Congrats to the happy couple!
After being hospitalized in December and placed on doctor-ordered bedrest, Maddie & Tae member Taylor Dye has given birth to a baby girl named Leighton Grace Kerr.
Along with husband and country songwriter Josh Kerr, Dye welcomed the newborn daughter on Monday (January 17), weeks earlier than expected. Weighing just 2 pounds 5 ounces, Leighton wasn’t due until the spring of 2022, but the proud parents have now told fans she’s healthy and beautiful.
“Leighton Grace Kerr, born January 17, 2022 // she’s beautiful, strong and everything we have ever dreamed of,” the couple wrote on Instagram. “She decided to be a Capricorn like her daddy. we already can’t wait for the day we get to finally take her home 💜”
Along with the announcement, the new mom shared a series of photos from the hospital, including one of the parents looking in at their daughter in an incubator. Although masks cover their faces, their beaming smiles still show through. Other photos highlight just how small little Leighton Grace is, as her whole foot is only about the size of dad’s pointer finger.
Many of the couple’s country star friends posted messages of support and congratulations, including Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley, who respectively thanked God for the baby’s safe arrival and remarked on what a good mother Dye will surely make.
Dye was admitted to the hospital in December after a routine checkup, with Maddie & Tae forced to postpone their headlining stint on this year’s CMT Next Women of Country Tour. At the time, they assured fans both mother and baby were healthy, and recently shared an update noting Leighton was indeed coming early.
Along with the happy news, Maddie & Tae will also be celebrating the arrival of a new EP this month, as Through the Madness, Vol. 1 is expected on January 28.
