Country great Reba McEntire will release a Gospel-focused live album and DVD next month, announcing the details behind My Chains Are Gone.
Out March 25 and featuring a CD and DVD pair, the project finds McEntire singing a combination of beloved hymns and her own inspirational favorites, and captures a special night at the “Mother Church of Country Music.”
Sharing the details just after Valentine’s Day, McEntire’s My Chains Are Gone project is said to features dynamic vocal performances filled with country soul. Fourteen performances are included on the DVD and 12 songs on the CD, as well as special appearances by Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Clarkson and The Isaacs.
Most of the footage and recordings come from McEntire’s first ever solo headlining show at the Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in 2017, while additional performances were captured at Clementine in Nashville. And in another twist, Gospel great Bill Gaither hosts the project. Meanwhile, a special broadcast premiere of the performance DVD will air on UPtv March 25 at 8 p.m. ET (with an encore on April 4 at 2 a.m. ET).
McEntire has released a number of Gospel albums in the past, including her most recent Sing it Now: Songs of Faith & Hope in 2017. Lately however, she’s been working on interesting ways to re-release her existing catalog, including 2021’s triple album of re-imagined hits and favorites, Revived, Remixed, Revisited.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member is currently on tour and her song “Somehow You Do” (written by Diane Warren) was recently nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
