Cassadee Pope Got Her Boyfriend On Board with Music Video for ‘Summer’
“I actually begged him to be in the video, but he’s first of all, is an amazing, amazing supporter of mine, and he has been since the beginning, since 6.5 years ago before The Voice, before everything,” she explained.
It’s no secret that Cassadee Pope’s music video for her latest single, “Summer,” gets a bit steamy. But even though the video goes farther than she’s ever gone before for a shoot, she made sure to get the boyfriend stamp of approval before moving forward with the concept.
The music video for “Summer” portrays a hot and heavy summer fling between Pope and her love interest during the warm months on the beaches of Florida. Between their romantic antics and sexy kisses, the video shows a sultry side to Pope that had never been seen before.
Although she may have been quite nervous about diving into such a passionate storyline for the video because of her serious relationship, Pope knew her boyfriend would have her back no matter what she decided to do for the song.
“I actually begged him to be in the video, but he’s first of all, is an amazing, amazing supporter of mine, and he has been since the beginning, since 6.5 years ago before The Voice, before everything,” she explained.
While her boyfriend was completely fine with the treatment for the music video, he didn’t want to take away from her spotlight and stepped back from being a co-star with her to give her the moment she’s been working so hard for.
“And he was just like, ‘I’m not an actor. I want you to get the best of the best for this video. I want it to be amazing, and I don’t think I will be able to deliver that because I’m not an actor—I’m a drummer in All Time Low, that’s what I do. So I told him, I said, ‘Well, I really want to go for it in this, are you comfortable with that?’ And he said, ‘One hundred percent. I want you to win an award for this video or awards for this video. Obviously, I want you to go for it.’ So he’s been nothing but supportive, and he tweeted about it and called Sam a stud. So, if that tells you anything about him, he’s very, very supportive all around,” said Pope.
Pope is using her summer to promote her current single and EP, Summer, before she heads back out on the road with Chris Young this fall.
