See Kacey Musgraves and James Corden’s Christmas Rom-Com

Kacey Musgraves and TV host James Corden pulled off an impressive, live action rom-com on The Late Late Show With James Corden, telling the tale of a Christmas love story in musical-theater style.

Showing off her new found acting skills and clear-as-a-Christmas-bell voice, Musgraves joins her host to unfold a fun-filled story over 9 different sets and 14 holiday tunes — all performed in one, continuous take.

It starts off with Musgraves working her retail job and singing “Jingle Bell Rock,” before bumping into Corden and beginning an adventure that includes “Wonderful Christmastime,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” and more, with some creative tension getting introduced through Musgraves’ own “Christmas Makes Me Cry.” Meanwhile, Corden copes with his momentary heartbreak in a “cheesier” way — and with some help from Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas” — before things turn around in classic rom-com fashion. “I Wish It Could Be Christmas” serves as the big grade finale, with snow falling and the studio audience cheering for more.

In truth, every day has been like Christmas for Musgraves lately — her first ever holiday special, The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show, is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
